Fifteen hikers followed the leader to Mississagi Park to drive to Helenbar trailhead and hike, but as fate would have it, the lock was changed at the gate from a code lock to a lock requiring a key.
So plan “B” was put into effect and we meandered down the semi-white creek trail and checked out every blue lookout point under a cloudy but windless day. We walked along the semi-white lake to the beach when the sun came out and shone on us as we had our snack break. The huge log that was used on lumberjack days to log roll provided some of the lucky hikers a wonderful seat to rest our weary bones. It was not the hike the leader had planned, but there wasn’t a mutiny and everyone appeared happy at the end of the hike. So all was well, whew!
