Camp Thompson via ATV1@ Stanrock Road/Hwy 108N
A great day for six CdeB to hike the trails. Shelter from the wind, some blue sky, wonderful company and beautiful snow dusted scenery. One sharp-eyed hiker spotted a partridge in a maple tree, and it hopped along the branch above our heads so we could capture the Kodak moment. (This may qualify for the 'First Day of Christmas, Northern Ontario style).
Evidence of beaver activity, interesting ice crystals pushing up from the ground, a geocache and very large wolf tracks, caught our attention as we wandered along the trail. After a pleasant break at Camp Thompson, we explored a side trail that loops around and joins the main trail. The leader only made one premature turn before we were back on the right track. A lovely hike to start the week.
