Seven hardy hikers tackled Grant's Trail today under grey skies. Snowshoes were deemed in order despite the well worn boot trail that gave us our start and that was a good call - once we hit the ATV trail, we were breaking trail! Plenty of water has collected under the snow and made for wet snowshoes initially and heavy, slushy sections as the day warmed up. To the hike leader's surprise, the trail has been re-routed FAR away from the lake so no lunch break there to relieve the tired hikers.... With a promise of a great view once we hit the cliff, the troop trudged on. The view certainly made the effort worthwhile and we were appropriately rewarded with some sunshine! We did get more of a workout than planned but, all in all, everyone enjoyed the hike and the wonderful company.
