A cool crew of 5 hikers drove 20 km south to the parking area on the east(left) side of Hwy 108. We kept a steady pace along the 4.5 km truck road.
We deftly skirted some huge mud puddles. Each time making sure to brush off any hitchhiking ticks from our clothing that had touched branches and tall grasses.
The truck road is also frequented by moose, bear, wolf, and raccoon. We saw many tracks and scat as we hiked.
Many small toads, tadpoles, dragonflies and a grouse were seen, as well.
Hope Lake was calm when we stopped for lunch. A breeze helped to keep the bugs at bay on our way home.
There are many spring blooms out.
Gay wings, Blue Bead Lily, Strawberry and Cherry Blossoms, Trailing Arbutus, Violets to name a few.
Distance was about 9 km. Thanks to Sirje for being Sweep.
