Chilly temperatures and cool breezes kept blackflies away from 12 hikers this morning . We enjoyed the sun
and conversation on our hike from the Miners' Monument to the cliffs overlooking Horne Lake.
and conversation on our hike from the Miners' Monument to the cliffs overlooking Horne Lake. Even though it had rained yesterday there were not too many muddy patches on the trail. We side stepped 2 samples of bear scat. There were several recent windfall trees across part of the trail. All in all the trail was in good shape.
We stopped to marvel at the size of the white pines. In the bush there were blue bead lilies establishing themselves along with bottle brush and foam flower( maybe).
Strawberry and blueberry blossoms were plentiful on the crevasses on the cliff overlooking Horne Lake.
A Leisure Hike was a great way to start the week. We covered a distance of 4.5 km.
