Camp Thompson area hike 2025 11 17

It doesn't get much better for fall hiking - sunshine on a cool morning and sixteen hikers on the trail. Mother Nature did not disappoint . A light dusting of snow, some animal tracks, an impressive layer of ice on puddles, the ground frost making the rocks look as if they have sunk and tendrils of ice extending up out of the ground. A shaggy birch tree and an interesting tree bole caught our attention.

The group enjoyed a sunny break at Camp Thompson before making our way back to our staring point on Highway 108.  We were up for a side trail to loop around a wet rocky patch of the trail and a shortcut around a large hill we climbed on our way in.
A really pleasant outing. No slips, falls or soakers.
