Public Hike 2026 06 29

A group of 8 hikers, including a couple of new and familiar faces, set out from Spruce Beach to walk the Beach to Beach Trail. The day was warm and slightly overcast. We were thankful when the light breeze penetrated into the trees, but wished for more of it. The trail is well used and we were mindful of the exposed roots and rocks as we strolled along. A large bol on a cedar tree and a yellow birch that had overgrown its rock caught our attention.

A pileated woodpecker startled us as it flew out of the woods in front of us.

We enjoyed our break at Spine Beach, enjoying the view and watching a very young kayaker learn padding skills. The water looked very inviting, but only fingers were dipped in the lake.

A pleasant couple of hours, only a few mosquitos and about 4 km of hiking on a very lovely trail from beach to beach.
