Banana Lake, Dec. 6th.

Well, we received quite a shock when we decided to snow shoe the once beautiful Banana Lake trail last Thursday. A diamond drill crew have set up shop just off Banana Lake and basically laid waste to what was a beautiful trail into the lake. not only is there a drill rig in place - they are at 1500 meters right now, but a large generator is set up on the lake also. The trail from the drill rig, which is situated just up the trail that leads to the campsite, is untouched- for now, and we enjoyed the hike there. But, you know what? We knew we were moving to a resource based area and this is their job as well as our recreation. We will find another way into the lake, avoiding the work sites and still enjoy the area. We also have an existing trail on the south side of the lake and will connect with that. Thx to "Bearded"John for some of the pics.
