Minutes of General Meeting Feb. 19 2008

A great crowd turned up for the general meeting on Tuesday, 19th. Feb. A short business meeting was held, followed by a presentation by Bill Ralph on the epic canoe trip from North Channel of Lale Huron to Ottawa, last summer. Thanks Bill and congrats. to you, Iris, Gord and JR on this accomplishment.
Thanks to the Penokeans for attending and for the loan of their equipment and to Terry Carr for his help setting it up and operating the electronics.

General Meeting - Tuesday, 19th February, 2007 - Snowbird Clubhouse

1. Phil called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

2. Guests this evening from the Penokean Club. Phil thanked the Penokeans for the use of their multi media projector.

3. Doug Ellenor, long time member, is in hospital in Sudbury. A card is on the counter for the members to sign.

4. Minutes of the last meeting on the board and they are on the blog, which goes out to over 40 members. There were no new members present at the meeting.

5. We need a case for the canes donated by Franz Ohler. Motion by Nancy-Jo Wannan that Grant be asked to make a case for the canes, for a reasonable price. Seconded by Alan Day. AIF.

6. Amendment needed to motion passed at last meeting re awarding of canes to past president and spouse. President may not be married. Canes should be awarded to male and female who has done the most for the club in the past year. Alan Day proposed the amendment that the canes donated by Franz Ohler become the President s Award and be given to the most worthy individual in the Club; seconded by Shelley McLennan. AIF.

7. Highway Clean-up Co-ordinator needed. Diane Day volunteered. Volunteer needed to look after tools and equipment, make sure they are in good working order. Fred Forsythe volunteered.

8. On Saturday, 23rd February, meet at Sears at 10:00 a.m. for outing to Nancy-Jo s cottage. Gerry Marengere will be present to film the outing.

9. Any suggestions for future topics and speakers, please let the Board know.

10. TREASURER S REPORT: Balance as at 31st January, 2008 $4,091.93. $1,500 Cheque received from the City of Elliot Lake. Expenses, $200.00 donation for the food bank in December.

11. Alan Day has the latest magazine and Trans Canada Trail Guide Book - $25 for members, $35 for non-members.

12. 50/50 draw was won by Sabena in the amount of $29.00

13. Gerry introduced Bill Ralph who gave a slide presentation on he and Iris canoe trip from Manitoulin Island to Ottawa, which was excellent. Gerry then presented Bill with a gift certificate from Sarich s.

14. Next meeting: Tuesday, 15th April, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. - Snowbirds Club.
