Hike to Kings Lake, thwarted by the collapse of a beaver dam, probably in recent rains, that prevented us from accessing the lake. Thx to Scott for these pics, see his commentary below.

Pick me! pick me!

Viewing the beaver dam flood
Well! We're not getting to the lake this way.
Phill and Liz lead a group of 12 hikers, onto the old highway, and then we made our way on to another trail, through the woods, that takes you all the way to Kings Lake. You access both places across from Depot Lake, walking north back along Highway 108, then down through the east side ditch, and up into the trail. We picked raspberries and blackberries along the way, also saw moose & bear tracks, lots of bear and wolf scat, We saw circling above us several vultures The birds were feasting on a bear carcass. We took a somewhat muddy side trail through the woods that takes you all the way to the tip of Kings Lake, at that end we saw a beaver dam had broken probably in recent rain storms, flattening anything in it's path. Lunch in that same area, while the mosquitoes feasted on us. Then the return trip back up the trail, onto the road, and back to Depot Lake boat launch and home.
