**UPDATED -NEW PICS Lake Superior hiking, Aug 5-6

Photos by Astrid and Phill
On Sunday, a group of 17 led by Jean-Guy, did a warm up hike of 5 kms to the windmill farm on Gros Cap just outside Sault Ste. Marie.  We were joined by Don of the Saulteaux Voyaguer Trail Club,  Natalie and Gary from the Algoma Paddlers, Cora's grandson Brandon, and Emily's sister Willetta.  Though the wind threatened to take our feet out from under us as times, we managed to stay upright, and nobody lost a hat!

On Monday morning we drove just north of Katherine Cove in Lake Superior Provincial Park(about an hour and a half north of the Soo) and did a 5 1/2 hour hike along parts of the Orphan Lake and Coastal trails. All manner of terrain from easygoing bush trails to boulders, sand and gravel along the beach and steep ups and downs. Thankfully the winds of the previous day had died down and sunshine accompanied us throughout the hike. The spectacular scenery and wonderful company made for a terrific day.  A half dozen of us refreshed ourselves at the end of the hike with a swim in Lake Superior.  Cold water never felt sooooo good!  Thanks to Jean-Guy for taking the lead once again.

If anyone else wishes to submit photos of this hike, please do so and I'll add them to this post,   Thanks!

Not all the hikers took off to the Orphan Lake Trail. We explored and found the TCT at Gros Cap. These pics from Phill.
