Easy Hike, Cookout Spanish American, Dec 8

Commetary by Emily, Photos by Astrid
Many thanks to Grant, Jim, Gerry R., George and Russ for going out Friday to set up a great campfire site for our hike today. They had blocks of wood around the fire circle for comfortable seating and even cut hot dog sticks for us.

Sue led us to the campsite on Spanish American mine site . We were greeted by the smiling happy faces of two "boy scouts/ lumber jacks" named Jim and Grant. They welcomed 23 hikers to the roaring campfire under a billowing Canadian flag. It was not long before the hikers were enjoying hot dogs, sausages, baked potatoes, soup and even some vegetables cooked over that fire. People commented about how great food tastes when it is heated over a campfire and eaten outdoors. Everyone helped in keeping the campsite clean and in packing everything out. People are looking forward to the next campfire. By then, we might even be on snowshoes!  CLICK HERE for photos
