Thursday, Feb 7 seven brave souls set out for an island in the south....south of the city of Elliot Lake on Esten Lake! We parked on Esten Dr North and headed south along the OFSC trail to a smaller snowshoe trail to the Esten Lake Road towards the boat launch. Grant broke trail for us on a trail that paralleled the shore line . Then, it was on to the lake with a brisk east wind at our backs. We followed Grant's tracks along the shore of the island and then up to a small cliff . There we had lunch protected from the wind by spruce and pine trees. People used their own ingenuity to make their own chairs. Ask Pavvo and Gerry. Then it was back on to the lake into the teeth of the blustery east wind. Grant broke trail for us to another bush trail that took us back to the vehicles. A good time!!"
