Otto led a small group of nine snowshoers up the back way to the Sheriff Creek Sanctuary and on to the lookout above Horne Lake on a brisk Saturday, March 16. We started off from Milliken Mine, picked up the yellow trail through the Sanctuary, hoping to catch up to the Penokean Hills Field Naturalists. From there, we went up the hill to the lookout on the back side of Horne Lake where we took in the view of the Elliot Lake skyline, sans Algo Centre Mall, had lunch, and then went back down, taking the blue trail through the Sanctuary back to Milliken Mine. We didn't see the Penokean Hills Field Naturalists but did see their tracks in the snow on the red trail. CLICK HERE for photos.
