Who would think we would find ourselves wearing tuques, warm jackets and boots on May 2nd?!
That is what 4 hikers did on Thursday, May 2. We set out from the Washington Snowdump and followed the roadway to Eaten Beach.
We started out dodging the occasional puddle and at least once, stepping off the roadway to tip toe over rocks, and through the bush to continue on our way.
The bush was full of bird song. One particular kingfisher was singing perhaps an angry tune for us. We left the area and that seemed to appease the kingfisher.
At the Quimby Lake turn to Elliot Lake Falls one of our hikers suggested we take a hike to see the condition of that trail. It was in fairly good shape with some large puddles and well used by ATV's on their way to the Pipeline Rd.. We hiked as far as a beach on Quimby Lake for our lunch break. We passed a few trails going north that headed back to Spine Rd. near the beach.
A good day. We hiked about 8 km.
