Horne Lake and Area, 2019-08-01

Photos and commentary by Emily:
We had a good day for our first hike of August!

We were a lucky seven group of  hikers. Everyone had water, snack and lots of bug spray. Also some of us packed extra sarcasm and zingers which we liberally shared along the trail.

Mushrooms of red, yellow, orange  are starting to pop up here and there. We did not touch them but admired the colours. We did enjoy a few raspberries along the way.

We spent most of our time in the shade along the trail behind the Westview RV park and then along the Blue and Yellow trail to the VTA . That led us to the top of the Matinenda Escarpment near the creek leading down to the Horne Lake  Island. We enjoyed lunch at the cliffs overlooking Horne Lake.

We headed back to our cars at the corner of Hwy 108 and Milliken Mine Rd. by way of the Blue trail along the shore of Horne Lake and through the RV Park.
