Commentary by Emily, photos by Steve and Emily:
It was very windy Wednesday. It was still a bit windy on
Thursday, Oct 17 . A bit risky to be on bush trails so, we did a road hike.
Stinson Lake Road had quite a few big puddles that caused us to test our balance as we tip toed around them . The colours are still spectacular even if they are past their prime. As we headed east it was possible to to see the Matinenda Escarpment here and there to the north of us.
There were trailers in a small encampment on the north shore of Stinson Lake.
We saw the entrance to the King's Lake Trail which leads to the Rainbow Trail.
Lunch was just past the east end of Stinson Lake. We had seating on piles of poplar logs that had been neatly stacked along the road.
According to our hikers with fit bits we did a total of 7.4 km.
We collected garbage on our way back. Kind of disappointing to see that people choose not to bring back empty containers.
A sunny day , beautiful scenery and congenial company: what a great way to spend an autumn morning!
