Lately we have been on hikes when members snow shoes have failed due to screws working loose or laces breaking. A mid winter check of your shoes would be a good idea. Just a simple once over will probably do it by looking for anything loose , frayed or cracked.
Thanks Jim B for this great idea. Better to check them out in the warmth of your house than on the trail.
