A dozen eager hikers started out at Spine Beach to the sound of much talking, gossiping and laughter. The trail was in good condition with a little snow in some areas and deeper snow in the open areas. This hike has got a lot of hiking in the forest around and through stands of trees and some open spots where the wind devastation of the trees is quite evident. The beach has an abandoned tent and a lot of camping gear left behind, which is rather sad as someone just walked away and left their possessions. A bald eagle was seen flying overhead as well. It was an ambitious Saturday hike, but as Thursday was cancelled due to weather, no one seemed to care that it was 7 km long.
