Maret led 8 excited hikers out towards Sherif lake. Most wore snowshoes even though the trail was well used, the warm weather softened the trail so that some fat folks (me) broke through.. the beaver pond still had lots of ice, the raven's nest is a yet unoccupied and the creek is flowing strongly.. that means the sanctuary (much) is getting more water... pace was good and chat was everywhere... we tried a side trail but snow was too deep so we went down to the control dam at the end of the lake..snack and water break and back on the trail.. very large dog tracks or maybe wolf.. one raven and one chickadee spotted.. good to be out, pleasant warm winter's day.. good to be out indeed
