Warm temperatures and blue skies are always a good combination for a hike. An intrepid group of 10 hikers opted to explore a new trail that was described as relatively flat, through the woods with a split rock at the end.
We eventually did get to this trail, but took the scenic route over several hills to Esten Road and down to Scott Road where we turned onto the trail we were looking for.
It is a lovely trail, with Sandhill cranes vocalizing to entice us forward. And we did see one crane flying over the marsh. One sharp eyed hiker had spotted a spider hustling across the path. The spider survived our twenty feet stomping past. Looking the wrong way, we somehow missed seeing the split rock. Consensus was that there was still too much snow.
Longer than a typical Monday hike, but an enthusiastic group and amazing temperatures made it a great walk.
