We are on the brink of Spring. Birds are returning. Ice is receding on lakes and rivers, trees will be budding soon and mud puddles are forming everywhere.
The hike today was a road walk along Denison Mine Rd to the entrance gate to the paved way to Denison House.
The road was clear of ice and snow. Serpent River Rapids were bubbling at the bridge on one side of the road . The river was wide and calm on the other side of the road with geese, mergansers and maybe a otter all enjoying the open water.
Nine of us chatted about travel plans, Easter gatherings, different vehicles and signs of spring on our 5. 5 k m hike.
We could have done a snowshoe hike but it was a nice change of pace . There is snow enough in the bush to allow for more snowshoe hikes for a few weeks yet!!
