RIVERSIDE TRAIL/CRANBERRY BOG 2023 08 21

No leader scheduled so I stepped in to lead the 7 ladies on their Monday hike. We drove up to Panel Mine road (they have strung wires on the new poles finally) to the Snowshoe trail.

We follow the riverside trail to the split and took David's favorite part of the trail to the cranberry bog. It has almost dried, leaving a ton of unripe berries showing.. I only saw one ripe one in thousands.
Up to the usual riverside rocks for snack and chat. Elk tracks in the mud at the low river's edge. Coming back on the other branch, we saw a partridge because Chuck wasn't there to tell us it was a grouse.
A couple of lobster mushrooms, among other types.
No, NONE, wet spots on the trail.. a few trees down
the Serpent river is lower than either Diane or I have seen it and we are really old..
Leaves showing color in spots.. mossies back out..
Back to the cars by 12:45. Good Hike.
