An energetic group of 13 set out under grey skies along Sheriff Creek.
Lively chatter brightened the day as we strolled along.
The trail is in excellent condition but water levels in the ponds and Sherrif Lake are very low, and tree roots and stumps are exposed around the edges.
Given the evidence of reds and orange on the maples, fall seems to be gaining a foothold. Lots of mushrooms of various colours and sizes are making their final appearance as well as a late season mosquito or two. A couple of bright white birch trees caught our eye as we passed.
A pleasant walk in the woods with a pleasant group of hikers.
