We defied the weather reports and set out from the corner of Pearson Dr and Scott Rd. to our destination: Spur Lake.
The fearless five trudged down ATV Trails and past well kept campgrounds to the Esten Lake Boat Launch.
We found the water in the shallows near the beach to be warm enough to swim . No one took a dip this time.
All along the way to Spur Lake we marveled at the abundance of yellow mushrooms in clusters and the occasional lobster mushroom as well as, a large puffball past its prime. Colour from the maples and mushrooms brightened up the grey day.
We had our break at Spur Lake .
Someone had skillfully cut very thin slices of a log. They are usually called cookies. These looked more like pizzas!!
10. 5 km in all. There were no complaints about the distance. However, it was suggested by participants that we park at the gravel pit on the Boat Launch Rd. for this same hike in the future. That would cut about 2 km off the total distance.
