WOODPECKER TRAIL SYSTEM 2023 12 14

Ten hikers came to the circle with two leaders on a hike that promised to be a challenge to find. Our ultimate destination was the highest overlook of Slipper Lake and we made it!!

The start of the hike (backwards) was easy peasy and then it wasn’t. The leader with the cell phone had a wee bit of bother trying to decipher the correct way to proceed because there
are many different paths to take, each to a different end and a whole whack of ribbons of different colours. We only had one false trail before the leader got her bearings correct
and off we were to the scenic view.
It was a lovely view but as all high points of land, it proved to be windy and too cold to have our break there.
Off we went back down to the hollow and we enjoyed our break, while the other leader was hunting for wooden treasures.
We made a loop back and that part of the trail is well marked with our white markers.
The two leaders have decided that it would be a great idea if we marked the rest of the trail with white markers taking down all the ribbon along the way.
It is really nice to have a great trail inside the city, so why not take advantage of it.
The sun came out at the end and we all enjoyed the trail, the company and the exercise.
