Six hikers gathered on a not-as-cold-as-forecast Thursday morning. The parking lot on Stanrock was not plowed so we parked on the road. It was hoped to deviate from the trail along the lake but the snow was deep and slow. The group ended up back on the road where we scooted east to the trail on the east side of the lake. We took turns breaking trail as we went up and down along the lake, but the views were worth it. We appreciated the clearing of this trail recently by some club members and the marking by Walter. An exploratory bushwhack north-east was not proceeded with, due to the time, but will be tried at a later date. Lunch at the campsite was very pleasant as the temperature was milder by 12:30. The walk back to the road was longer than the advertised 10 minutes, but keeping up morale is very important to the leader. The leader wishes to return to this area soon to take advantage of this prime hiking spot.
