Helens Trail 2024 09 14

David's turn to lead so we went to Stanrock road and Helen's trail..
We were 18 hikers with a newby.
Renee riding herd on the slackers, we followed the trail into the bush.
Half a dozen trees were across the trail in the first 20 minutes, but clever clogs brought his pruning saw with him and removed chunks.. access undenied. From there on it was better and we wound our way out to the ridges and along the trails to Northspan.
Break for water, rest and snack. Mara had cheese and chocolate.
2 minute warning was sounded and we mustered the crowd and retraced our steps.
Back to the cars by 1:30 and back to town..
one lonely crow, a skinny red squirrel and some leaves changing..
Sunny day, warm in the open, cool in the shade with a nice breeze on the high spots.. good hiking in the fall...
Good to see some familiar faces back and one new one..
cheers
