Emilys Trail 2025 02 04

Nine of us set off along Emily's Trail ðŸ‘£  on this bright , sunny, windy, and cold winter 's day.

The first 2 km has been well used by members of the public. The trail was already well stomped out. Just beyond the bench,  the trail had  not been stomped. So, we took turns  at the head of the  Gang of Nine.  This worked out well.

We arrived at the Big Rock for our lunch break. Some decided to  walk ahead to Sandy Pt.

It really made a difference snowshoeing on a well tromped  on trail as we continued  returned!!

We know the line from a movie
" If you build it, they will come."
Well, after all the hard work of stomping  the trail, we met 2 people snowshoeing  along with their 2 dogs .  Big smiles when they told us they enjoyed the trail.

Good  conversations and good vibes.
Thanks to our 2 Sweeps:   Ruth on the way out, and Dave N. on the way back!

We found a Snow Angel on the back of the Big Rock where we had lunch.
We saw fox, squirrel, weasel (maybe?), wolf and a partridge in a yellow birch tree.

P.S... Elliot Lake has the small ice shack village just off the Spine Rd Beach.
Last week someone had plowed a road to allow ice fishers to drive their vehicles to these shacks.
With all the heavy weight of snow in the last few days, part of that road is complete slush today!
Here is a photo from January 23 of Elliot Lake before the snow came. One brave soul had driven a Side by Side on the ice just off Spine
Beach .
