Hi and thanks for posting Steve's photos.
Hikers numbering a baker's dozen arrived at the Washington Snow Dump . Emily was too eager to leave with her original 10 hikers from the parking lot. It was at 9 55 !! It was way too soon and so happy that the other 3 hikers arrived on time!!
The Slipper Lake trail was generally dry with the notable exception of the traditional swampy area. It was a place to practise one's River Dance skills , for sure.
The lake was calm and the leaves are showing their gorgeous fall colours along the shoreline.
Good thing some hikers remembered to bring along empty garbage bags. We returned with full garbage bags. It is true , though , that there was less visible debris at the trail entrance than we had seen before. The garbage we picked was around a rocky campfire ring on one of the more picturesque overlooks on Slipper Lake.
We enjoyed a snack break at the southern most point along Slipper Lake. We were very impressed with the respect that some campers have for nature and disappointed with the thoughtless disregard that others showed with their stacks of garbage.
On the return to the main trail we decided to check out a few side trails. One was quite promising until we spotted what looked like a bear bait station. We left that trail and headed north to access trails Spine Rd beach.
Future hikes were planned to these areas.
Along the way, we saw some bear tracks on two different trails. They are out and about!!
