WOODPECKER TRAIL 2023 09 02

David ed a large group (16) up the Woodpecker Trail on a fine fall hiking day.

From the snow dump, we headed up the hill, stopping to admire the burl the size of a bear half way up. And it was NOT because I was out of breath. Stopped at the top to recover and on towards the Frame Crescent road. Along that for a short way to the main camp at Crystal lake. Short break for oohs and ahhhs on the shore and back across the road to the Slipper Lake lookout.
Following down the trail, up and down through mixed, mostly deciduous forest to the junction with Pim's trail. Eschewing a visit we wound down the hill to the flat that is dryer than usual. A few trees are down across the trail but high enough to duck under.
We arrived at a point on the south end of Slipper lake for a rest and a snack. Revived and raring we followed the shore trail back to All nations road and so back to the snow dump and the cars.

2.5 hours of exercise, fresh air and good company.. feeling grateful to be alive.
