A stiff breeze offset the milder temperatures, and made the choice of a more sheltered trail a great choice for the group of eight hikers.
We hiked on a well travelled trail along Sheriff Creek, enjoying the beautiful scenery., well protected from the chilling effect of the wind. People and dog tracks were abundant, but no signs of any wild creatures and no birdsong to enjoy unfortunately.
There was some open water along the creek, but the lake appeared completely snow covered. Caution was in our minds, and no one ventured out onto the ice due to the recent reports of people and snow machines breaking through the ice on local lakes.
A very pleasant outing to start the week, with a very congenial group.
